This Isn't a Business Built on Pity
It's Built on Respect
The story of why Tech 4 Grown-Ups exists - and why it matters more than ever.
It Started With a Moment I Couldn't Ignore
I've spent years watching intelligent, capable, accomplished people — people who have navigated far greater challenges than a smartphone — sit in frustration, embarrassment, and sometimes even shame because they couldn't figure out their technology.
Not because they weren't smart enough.
Not because they were too old to learn.
But because nobody had ever taught them properly. And worse — nobody seemed to think they deserved to be taught properly.
I watched family members sigh. I watched so-called "help" sessions move too fast, assume too much, and leave people feeling more lost than when they started. I watched the people I cared about quietly shrink from technology — avoiding it, fearing it, and slowly being excluded from a world that was moving online whether they were ready or not.
That wasn't acceptable to me. And it shouldn't be acceptable to anyone.
"They created a world that requires digital literacy to participate fully in society, and then offered no meaningful pathway for adults who didn't grow up with these tools. That's not a learning problem. That's a civil rights issue."
— M Routhier, Founder, Tech 4 Grown-Ups
So I Built What Should Have Already Existed
Tech 4 Grown-Ups was built from scratch with one audience in mind: adults 55 and over who are intelligent, experienced, and fully capable of mastering technology, they just need it taught in a way that respects how they actually learn.
No jargon. No condescension. No rushing through steps because "it's obvious." No assumption that you should already know this.
We built a structured curriculum that starts from the absolute beginning and builds systematically, because real confidence comes from understanding why things work, not just memorizing where to tap.
We built a community where no question is too basic, no frustration is met with impatience, and every small win is genuinely celebrated - because learning in isolation is hard, and learning with people who understand your exact challenges is transformative.
And we built it on a foundation of Stoic philosophy, because the same principles that helped Marcus Aurelius navigate the most complex challenges of his time apply directly to navigating the frustrations, fears, and setbacks that come with learning something new at any age.
The obstacle is the way. Every moment of confusion is one question away from clarity. Every mistake is knowledge that makes the next attempt easier. That's not a motivational poster. That's how learning actually works.
Our Mission Is Simple
🎯 Dignity
Every adult deserves to navigate the digital world with the same confidence and independence they bring to everything else in their life.
🎯 Respect
We treat our members as the intelligent, experienced adults they are, not as problems to be managed or seniors to be patronized.
🎯 Access
Digital literacy is not a luxury. It is a right. And we are committed to making sure adults 55+ are never left behind simply because nobody taught them properly.
Who We Serve
Tech 4 Grown-Ups exists for the person who has raised families, built careers, and navigated decades of change, but finds themselves feeling left behind in a world that moved online without them.
It exists for the person who is tired of asking for help and feeling like a burden. For the person who worries every time the phone rings that it might be a scam. For the person who watches their grandchildren FaceTime effortlessly and wonders if they'll ever feel that comfortable.
You are not behind. You are not incapable. You are not too old.
You are simply untrained. And that is a problem we can solve, together.
